~From Home to Burnley~
7th November 2010
After a great walk yesterday and a game of 5-a-side this morning, there was limited options for tiring legs. This walk allowed for a pleasant afternoon stroll, mainly downhill or level. More local stuff, most photos from the canalside. For a Summiteer, this is clearly the antithesis.

Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Robinson Lane
We set off from home and walked along Hillingdon Road and then down Reedley Road, crossing Colne Road to descend Robinson Lane. Much of that information is useless to viewers who don't know my local area. What is true is that I saw very little to point the camera at, prior to reaching Robinson Lane. Everything looks promising about this place, there is just one downside, it's "CLOSED".
The bridge in the photo is on Robinson Lane and this is where we joined the canal, I am looking back (in the direction of Leeds).
Some views of the canal, with Pendle Hill shown above, beyond Oliver Ings Bridge.
Barden Mill
We called in for light refreshments. Popular with folk who can't decide what to do on a Sunday afternoon.
Fallen Tree
Having just negotiated this obstacle, thoughts of the original "Railway Children" came to mind. What if a train comes along at any moment soon?
Livingstone Mill
Livingstone, I presumed to be a newer build than Stanley Mill, but it was built in 1887, four years earlier. The years have not been kind.
Towards Burnley
Geese by the canal
Why do they stand on one leg? One is trying to hide, but it's not working.
Can you see the hoodie? Typical Burnley sight and there's more to follow....
Cronkshaw Street, Burnley
Multiculturalismisticised Burnley
The young lady (probably) may appear to be stood in a bin, but it's not the case. Imagine if I walked into Sainsburys with just my eyes showing?
Walkers: Karen and Me
Time taken: 2hrs 10 minutes, over about three miles.
Route: Home, Reedley Road, Robinson Lane, canal to Burnley, shopping at Sainsburys, lift home from Gary.
Weather and conditions: Sunny Intervals.
Greetings Count: Plenty of Sunday afternoon sojourners along the canalside.
Richard's Refreshment Review: We had tea and toasted teacakes at Barden Mill and it's not bad for an outfit with loads of tables and a high capacity. You can sit in the conservatory, overlooking the canal, if all the seats are not already taken - which they were.
